Assault allegations leveled by campaign worker in Chicago electoral race
CHICAGO, Illinois (STORYFUL) -- The Chicago Board of Election Commissioners said it was investigating an alleged assault on a campaign worker in the city’s 6th Ward elections last Tuesday.
This video, posted to Facebook, shows a man approaching a man described as alderman candidate Deborah Foster-Bonner’s son and campaign manager, Malcolm Bonner. Bonner is recording as the man approaches. The man appears to strike his phone, knocking it to the ground.
The video alleges an assault occurred, and says the man in the video is a “field coordinator” for the ward’s incumbent, Alderman Roderick Sawyer.
WTTW quoted a response from the Sawyer campaign, saying, “This overzealous supporter was immediately asked to leave. This incident does not represent the values of our campaign.”
