PORTLAND, Ore. — A woman was found dead early Monday morning after reports of a shooting near the Portland State University campus in downtown Portland.
The shooting was reported just after 1 a.m. Monday near a convenience store at the intersection of Southwest 6th Avenue and College Street.
Officers say they found a woman dead.
Police closed the surrounding blocks for an investigation.
"The Portland State community is saddened to learn that the epidemic of deadly gun violence that has plagued so many cities has hit close to home," PSU said in a statement. "PSU prioritizes the safety and well being of our students and employees and our Campus Public Safety Officers are in contact with the Portland Police Bureau which is leading the investigation. We don’t have further information about the incident at this time and there is no ongoing threat to our campus."
